All my life I have been held back; tried to follow the rules; tried to stay out of trouble. Then I realize trouble finds you wherever you ARE, the “life is too short” reality dawns on me, hits me harder than a Mayweather punch. Then my mind tells me to get it whiles I can and I go with my instincts. Yall are prolly wondering, “What the hell is he talking about”. You will understand when you get to the end of the passage.

The music I do has become more personal and realer than I ever thought it could be. I can’t bring myself to do anything that is not in direct correlation with my current situation. Hip Hop is my first love, it will always be but sometimes I can’t express myself with it. I feel like I am in a box. I need a larger medium to narrate my story so I call Sergio and explain to him. I go to the studio and we make magic. Now I am feeling like David Copperfield but as I am doing this ‘other’ kind of music, a part of me is still stuck/trapped in the past. So I tell Sergio to help me choose beats from the internet and record all the bars that are coming to my head as I am in my new ‘field’.

Long story short, I have put all these bars recorded in a tape, for the fans of my rap. There are 5 songs on the tape and it is called ‘NO-MAKEUP MAKEUP EP’. The name is explained in the first two lines of the tape; “Real music in your face like makeup// but this no be makeup this is real as hell//”. When I was recording, all that was in my mind was “just be real, natural and raw” but the music is coming in your face like makeup. For my other fans who fell in love with me because of ‘Party’, Im pleased to announce that my first radio single is ready and will be released soon after the tape. Thank You

Rapper, Kobby Dope announced via his twitter on Saturday morning that he was recording a joint tape with singer Deon. The rapper tweeted:

“I met Deon in Sergio’s studio once and it is amazing talking to someone who thinks the same way you do musically. Things just kicked off right away. While we were waiting for our session outside the studio, Deon was playing instrumentals from his phone and we were just playing around with them but it just sounded dope every time. Deon would come up with melodies and hooks and I’d drop some bars on it. When we went into the studio, it was the same thing that happened. Sergio played a lot of beats for us and we seemed to like/hate the same kind of beats. There was this cohesion and we have since recorded a lot of jams, some of our individual solo projects and the rest for a joint tape. Sergio is working on the songs and my team is talking to his team to see how best to put it out for the fans but what I can say for now is everyone is happy. Enjoy this freestyle as you wait…”

KOBBY DOPE TO PREMIER 90 SECOND FRIDAYS SERIES ON AUGUST 2

Artist Kobby Dope is set to start his Turn Up Tuesdays and 90Second Fridays Series next month (August). Starting from 2^nd August, 2013 until 30^th August, 2013 the rapper will release a 90 second/ 1minute 30 second-long song at 3pm every Friday and re-release one of his old materials every Tuesday. At the end of the month, the 1 minute 30 second song with the most hits will be extended to a full song and released on 7^th September. The fresh KNUST graduate said this was aimed at increasing his interaction with his fans and friends. We wish him all the best.

KOBBY DOPE SCHEDULES PREMIER OF NEW SONG FOR FRIDAY NIGHT, RELEASES SONG COVER ART

First of all I want to thank God for my life and the wonderful people he has put it in it and also for how he has blessed me. I have had a good run. I was in a competition on TV somewhere in July last year and though I was not able to make it far, I got huge co-signs and buzz. I built on the little hype and released three singles; Friends With Benefits, Ired and Rib Cage Music, and then a mixtape and was able to add to the hype.

I had to take a break however to focus on completing my thesis which would enable me to acquire my bachelor’s degree. I am happy to say my thesis has been completed successful, thanks to God. After my thesis completion, I and Sergio have been working really hard in the studio. I would like to use this platform to announce that work has already begun on my sophomore mixtape. The details would be communicated to you soon but for now I have something exciting for you all which I am premiering online at 9pm. It is called “Shemba Tune”.
